OMEGA Speedmaster in Space

Sale price$11,100.00
SKU: 440007702925

On October 3rd, 1962, the Speedmaster CK 2998 became the first OMEGA worn in space when astronaut Walter Schirra used his personal model during the Sigma 7 mission of the Mercury programme. This updated version pays tribute to that pioneering timepiece and captures the distinctive second‑generation Speedmaster aesthetic in a modern form.

The 39.70 mm case is crafted from polished and brushed stainless steel and paired with a brown leather strap featuring a stainless steel buckle. The black aluminium bezel ring includes the legendary tachymeter scale with the emblematic “Dot Over Ninety.”

Beneath the new hesalite‑like sapphire crystal, the grey‑blue dial is CVD‑coated to replicate the tone found on some CK 2998 models produced in the 1960s. The dial features indexes and “Alpha” hour and minute hands filled with vintage‑toned Super‑LumiNova, while the central “Baton” seconds hand is white‑varnished to complement the transferred markings. The subdials include a 30‑minute recorder at 3 o’clock, a 12‑hour recorder at 6 o’clock, and a small seconds display at 9 o’clock.

A vintage OMEGA logo appears on both the dial and the crown. The caseback showcases the famous Seahorse medallion, along with the engravings “THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE” and “OCTOBER 3, 1962.”

The watch is powered by the Co‑Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, the most up‑to‑date evolution of the Calibre 321 worn by astronauts in space. Each timepiece is delivered in a special presentation box accompanied by a “LEGENDARY MOONWATCH” leaflet.
